This is a campaign that will start at the 7th level, and is estimated to end somewhere around the 10th-12th level. In it you play as a recent recruit of the Ninth Company, a mercenary band with a supposedly ancient history, and a reputation for survival. Your exact status with the company is entirely up to you, you may be contracting out, or a full fledged member, the only requirement is that you are with the company for the term of this campaign. (Otherwise you have no real reason to accompany them.)
As a new addition, you’ve been picked up due to your skill and/or notoriety, be it good or ill. In particular your to serve as forward scouts, and generally act as the bands specialists when a small group works better than a large one. This will translate into the party working independently of the main force, but occasionally partaking in larger battles with them. I hope this will be a fun event when it does happen, but rest assured you won’t always be forced into mass combat.
The schedule is weekly, Sunday night from 6-7 ET, to around midnight. More exact times will be posted when we are getting near to starting the campaign, and I’ve talked to everyone about their schedule. I anticipate the campaign taking 4-6 weeks in total, depending on how fast the party moves.
Generally this campaign will favor combat more than interaction with friendly NPC’s, by its nature it is a wilderness campaign so you simply won’t have as much of a opportunity to visit taverns or the like. You will however have your fellow band members, and i highly encourage RP between the party members themselves.
The Other Stuff
Because we are starting out at 7th level, you may have an existing character you would like to bring in, this will depend on the character, as I’ll need to see his sheet to see if he is in line with the balance of this campaign.
House rules will exist, but they tend to be minor and geared toward speeding up gameplay, or eliminating potential issues. For example the summoner class is banned, simply because in the past it has proven to be somewhat of a pain and slows the group down.
Speaking of classes, I will allow any pathfinder class with the noted exception above, this includes the beta classes paizo is currently testing. However, the beta characters have additional requirements, such as making a weekly report on the paizo boards about how they are working. Since they are unfinished, and may cause additional work to be required, I think the least we can do is make sure paizo gets the feedback they ask for.
And that is it, if i think of anything more you’ll likely see it here, and if it is a house rule, likely further detailed on the house rules wiki page.
